Gould’s Wild Turkey Hunting

"The wild turkey hunting at El Durangueño is simply fantastic… never have I seen so many turkeys, nor such enormous ones… it would not surprise me if the next World's Record will be harvested there!" (Quote by Mr. Howard Pollock, retired Congressman for Alaska and former Pres. of Safari Club Int’l, taken from article “The Best-Kept Secret in Turkey Hunting” in Safari magazine of January/February, 2004)

Just over two years later, his prediction was fulfilled:

Mr. Clyde Neely of Houston, Texas visited El Durangueño in April of 2006 and harvested a 27.5 lb. Gould’s turkey with a 14 1/16th in. beard that scored a phenomenal 74.5 points…

THE NEW #1 GOULD'S TURKEY!

We don't only have the #1 Gould's turkey; El Durangueño easily dominates the top-20 record list of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF).

Click here to see our recorded trophies at the NWTF (Turkeys that made #1, 5, 8, 10, 11, 17, 19, etc.- One of our hunters recently harvested a bird that's tied in #3 and it will soon be registered too)

El Durangueño doesn’t only offer world class hunting; when you combine it with gracious hospitality, impeccable accommodations and excellent cuisine, you end up with the best overall hunting experience you will ever have. But don’t just take our word for it, read some typical comments from our guests:

“I have been in many hunting camps in the United States and Mexico in the last ten years. Rancho El Durangueño is by far and away the most superior. You receive in camp everything promised when the trip was arranged.  The staff is courteous and available for your every need. The food is excellent…  The quantity and quality of the game is outstanding. You are able to hunt as you like to hunt. I hunted two times a day and saw no less than fifty birds in each hunt. The camouflage equipment is new, up to date and effectively conceals the hunter from the birds.
They provide new four- wheel drive vehicles for transportation to the approximately forty hunting sites. There are in excess of twenty impoundments providing the water necessary for game, reproduction and growth…”  Douglas L. Hammer.  Chicago, Illinois.

“Ben and I wanted to send a note to thank you and your staff for the hospitality that was extended to us and to let you know that we are still in awe of the experience we had at Rancho El Durangueno.  Even as we show photos and describe the trip to friends and family, we realize we can’t come close to giving an accurate portrayal of the ranch, the mountains, the staff, the accommodations and the turkey hunting.  I think that Ben summed it up best when he said, “I knew that it was going to be a really nice trip, but it was way more than I expected”.  Even if Ben hadn’t taken an absolute trophy Goulds, it still would have been an amazing trip... hope to see you at the ranch again soon.”  Paul & Ben Williams.  Olive Branch, MS.

“The turkey hunting is the best I’ve seen for any sub-species anywhere in North America.  The guides are professional and flexible and the birds respond to calling very, very well.  The birds also measure up and there are lots of them. I saw over 150 birds in 3 days.  The ranch owners are committed to long term habitat improvement and the maintenance of quality Gould’s turkey habitat.” Wally Murphy, Professional “Certified” Wildlife Biologist in the USA for 27 years (New Mexico).

“From the professional airport pickup, to the expert guides you provided us, to the world class Gould’s turkey hunting, to the five-star accommodations, all aspects of the hunt were absolutely outstanding.
I have hunted extensively throughout North America… and I can honestly and truly state with authority that Rancho El Durangueño is the premier Gould’s wild turkey destination. You have set the standard against which all other turkey hunting locations should be judged.” - Dalton D. Dowdy. Georgia

"I have been hunting in Mexico and Argentina for 23 years and have not found a better operation than El Durangueño. The number and quality of birds, the guides, the accommodations, the food and the hospitality were superior. ” - Tom James, MD. Dallas, TX.

" The best hunting experience I have ever had. Hunting, guides, transportation, lodging, food, employees - it is all top of the line." - William Hill, Ohio

“By far the most enjoyable hunting experience we have ever had. The accommodations were five star, the food and service were superior, and the hunting was outstanding…” “I have never hunted an area with such a large population of turkeys”. “I am confident that El Durangueño offers the very best Gould's hunting experience in Mexico." - Don Hayes, Nashville, Tennessee

El Durangueño has over 55,000 acres of terrain for hunting and has all of the authorizations required under Mexican law. We make sure that your hunt is a safe, professional and successful one.

According to the National Wild Turkey Federation, there are six subspecies of wild turkeys. Four of them can easily be found in the U.S., but hunters need to come to México to hunt the Ocellated and the Gould’s. The latter can be harvested in the U.S., but with great difficulty because of its scarcity. These two “Mexican” wild turkeys are needed to obtain the Royal and World Slams of turkey hunting.
