Terrain, flora and wildlife
The ranch is very large and has a varied topography, which includes mountains, beautiful canyons, pine and oak woods, green plains, many dams and brooks, which allows for diverse habitats where many animals live, such as the Coues white tail deer, the mountain lion, the bobcat and gray fox.

Many bird species can also be found, such as the Gould's wild turkey. There are species that experts yearn to see: the Quetzal and Mountain trogons; the Montezuma quail & the Sierra Madre sparrow. The largest woodpecker known in the world, the Imperial, 2 feet long, maybe extinct, was last seen in these Durango mountains.

Temperatures
It's never hot at El Durangueño. In fact, it can get very cold at night and early in the morning during the winter time, although their kind temperatures go up to comfortable levels. During spring, summer and fall, the temperature high is of about 80° Farenheith, although average temperatures are near 72°.
